Capello showing international inexperience
Monday, March 31st, 2008Terry Venables, former England manager, claims that Capello’s decision to rotate the England captaincy displays Capello lack of experience as an international manager. The captain for the French friendly was Rio Ferdinand, and before that Steve Gerrard for the Swiss friendly. It is believed that Capello will try out two more captains before settling on a long term captain for the World Cup qualifiers.

However, Venables believes that this apprach is a waste of time, stating in the Sun “It worries me to see the England captaincy turned into some sort of audition. Why is Fabio Capello wasting precious time asking these questions when the World Cup qualifiers are getting closer by the minute?”
Venables feels that the captain contest should go to John Terry stating “I would give the skipper’s job to John Terry, who is a natural leader, Rio Ferdinand has a nice way, Steven Gerrard leads by example, but JT has the edge - as long as he puts all his off-field nonsense behind him.”
